[04/04/2017] Zahra to ride Harlow Gold in ATC Oaks
Mark Zahra has been confirmed to take the ride on Harlow Gold, when the talented filly takes her position in Saturday’s 2017 Australian Oaks field at Royal Randwick. The pair will jump from barrier 12 of 14 however the big striding daughter of Tavistock appreciates a bit of galloping room and Mark will have ample time to find a position in running for the 2400m Classic for 3yo fillies. Harlow Gold has been partnered by Regan Bayliss in each of her ten career starts to date, but the in-form hoop will miss the 2017 Australian Oaks after receiving a suspension following the filly’s run for third in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) a fortnight ago.

[22/03/2017] Harlow Gold draws well for GR1 as wet track test looms - and Throssell bolts in at Pakenham!
Star filly HARLOW GOLD has drawn perfectly in barrier 5 (of 13) for Saturday's Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes over 2000m at Rosehill. In her final lead up to the Group 1 ATC Oaks on Day 2 of The Championships the Daughter of Tavistock comes off luckless 1.5L fourth in the Australian Guineas at Flemington a little over a fortnight ago. The VRC Oaks runner-up is likely to face a Heavy 9 or worse track for the first time on Saturday, however Dalziel Racing's Wylie Dalziel didn't think the prospect of a bottomless track was going to pose an issue for his Group 1 place-getter.

Not much went right at her first two starts but today the heavens opened and FLYING PAN burst away for a big maiden win over 1400m at Murray Bridge. Trained by our South Australian horseman Phillip Stokes and ridden by stable jockey Dom Tourneur the promising 3yo daughter of Helmet took a few strides to find her rhythm as they left the gates, before mustering good speed to settle just off midfield in the field on 9. She always travelled well for Dom and the pair started to creep in to the race as the pressure went on 500m from home, however with a wall in front of him Dom was sweating on a run as they swung in to the straight. No sooner was he in traffic and the field opened right up as Dom angled away from the inside to find himself in clear running and down the middle of the track. From there it was race over as FLYING PAN stormed away for a convincing 3.7L win.
