Star filly HARLOW GOLD has drawn perfectly in barrier 5 (of 13) for Saturday’s Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes over 2000m at Rosehill. In her final lead up to the Group 1 ATC Oaks on Day 2 of The Championships the Daughter of Tavistock comes off luckless 1.5L fourth in the Australian Guineas at Flemington a little over a fortnight ago.

The VRC Oaks runner-up is likely to face a Heavy 9 or worse track for the first time on Saturday, however Dalziel Racing’s Wylie Dalziel didn’t think the prospect of a bottomless track was going to pose an issue for his Group 1 place-getter.

‘Whilst you never really know until you try them on it David (Hayes) and I are confident she’ll handle the going’ Said an upbeat Wylie on Wednesday.

‘She was a commanding winner on a Soft 6 at Caulfield during the Spring and her old siblings have all handled Heavy going. Hopefully we get through it as she is in tremendous form and building towards a win’

‘She deserves a Group 1 this filly’.

In-form and rising young star Regan Bayliss stays on board his star filly and the pair take on what looks a very open Vinery Stud Stakes in 2017.  Group 1 winner from NZ La Bella Diosa and multiple Group 2 winner Foxplay, who head the markets for Saturday, have both drawn poorly and Harlow Gold should find herself in the perfect position from the draw.

Group 1 wins are extremely hard to come by, however the Dalziel Racing team couldn’t be happier with their star filly and with an ounce of luck she’ll kick off a big few weeks for connections, culminating in the ATC OAKS!

Harlow Gold will cap off a big few days for team after Listed winner THROSSEL proved too classy for his rivals over 1400m at Pakenham on Thursday night. The son of Captain Sonador was coming back in grade after contesting the Group 1 Australian Guineas at Flemington a fortnight ago and he relished the Benchmark 70 class, storming away for a comprehensive 2.2L win for Luke Nolen – watch his big win below.

Throssell was a winner of the Listed Anzac Stakes at Flemington almost 12 months ago and he was touted as VRC Derby contender after two encouraging runs during the spring to kick off his campaign. After a couple of below par performances the gelding went to the paddock and he’s taken a while to hit his straps this time in. However, tonights win was a huge confidence boosting win for everyone involved and we’ll be looking for Throssell to continue working through the grades to hopefully return to the top flight soon!

Not forgetting tomorrow’s runner at Terang where we have MR de NIRO looking to break through after two solid third placings, when he lines up in the 1000m maiden with Daniel Stackhouse on board. From barrier 3 he should settle forward enough in running and with an ounce of luck he should prove hard to beat.

In the sunshine state on Saturday we have FOGOSO running at the Gold Coast for our QLD trainers Bryan and Daniel Guy. He is knocking on the door for another win after finishing second at the same track and trip a few weeks ago and will jump from barrier 6 in the field of 11.

Our final runner for the weekend is Lady of Darkness who heads to Benalla on Saturday for her third career run. The daughter of So You Think is a promising staying filly in the making and she gets to the 2000m for the first time in her short career. From barrier 4 jockey Mark Pegus should be able to find himself a nice position in running and the big galloping track is sure to suit Lady of Darkness. We’re looking forward to getting this filly out in trip at just her third start.

Good luck to all the Dalziel Racing connections!
