Three-year-old filly Double Pi resumed in strong fashion on Wednesday, breaking her maiden in Race 1 at Sandown at just her third career start!

After a solid first preparation and a well-deserved spell, Double Pi returned a much stronger and more mature filly — and she certainly showed it. Jumping sharply in the 1200-metre maiden, she showed great tactical speed to position up second before sprinting clear in the straight. She fought off all challengers in a gritty finish to win by a long neck.

It was a thrilling result for her loyal ownership group, many of whom were watching from around Australia — with some lucky enough to be on course to celebrate the victory in person!

A huge thanks to Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman for a top training effort and to Ben Melham for a perfectly judged ride.

Double Pi was a $50,000 Melbourne Inglis Yearling Sale purchase by Wylie and Peter Moody and looks to have a very bright future ahead.

Congratulations again to all involved — and if you’d like to join the fun and success, check out our current ownership opportunities at dalzielracing.com!
