A mid-summer Friday afternoon at Flemington seemed the perfect place for Red Hot Nicc to notch his first city win and the four-year-old Nicconi gelding didn’t disappoint.

As rapid racing returned to headquarters, Red Hot Nicc returned to the winner’s stall after a series of seconds across his past six starts.

Under the guidance of Zac Spain down the fabulous Flemington straight, Red Hot Nicc sat poised on the speed before exploding over the final 100m to win by 1.75 lengths.

Purchased for just $100,000 by Dalziel Racing and trained by Phillip Stokes out of Pakenham, Red Hot Nicc has proved a nice investment for a good group of owners, with prizemoney now topping $175,000 after his victory at benchmark 70 level.
