Vivid Sun kept her unbeaten record intact at Sandown with a dominant win in Race 3, making it two wins from two starts and confirming her place as one of the most exciting fillies in our stable.
The 3YO daughter of The Autumn Sun was superb first-up from a spell, settling at the rear before producing a powerful run down the outside under Blake Shinn to cruise past her rivals and win by more than two lengths. It was the kind of performance that stamped her as a filly headed towards black type races this Spring.
Trained by the Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman partnership and carrying the Dalziel silks, Vivid Sun showed maturity beyond her experience. Blake Shinn has been on board for both of her wins and his confidence in her was on display again as she proved far too strong late.
Purchased for $200,000 from Arrowfield Stud at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Vivid Sun is bred to shine being out of Rainbow Song, a mare who has now produced three winners from three foals to race. She is also a half-sister to Group performers in Japan, adding further depth to her pedigree.
Congratulations to her wonderful ownership group — this is a filly that looks capable of giving them a thrilling ride through the Spring.
