What a start for two-year-old filly Vivid Sun, scoring an impressive debut win at Ballarat on Sunday!

Trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, and perfectly ridden by star jockey Blake Shinn, Vivid Sun jumped the $3.10 favourite in the 1200m Maiden for two-year-old fillies — and never gave her supporters a reason to worry! After beginning smartly, she controlled the race beautifully before striding clear for a dominant 2-1/4 length victory.

Vivid Sun is a filly by The Autumn Sun who was purchased at the Sydney Easter Sale last year for a great group of owners — many of the same team behind our star Autumn Angel! She had been doing everything right at home, winning her first jump-out and impressing in her trials leading into today.

Wylie Dalziel said after the race, “Moods kept us level-headed this morning — first start, wet track, you never know — but we really thought we had a nice filly on our hands. It’s fantastic to see her deliver like that, and so good to have Blake on board!”

Looking ahead, Vivid Sun is likely to now head to the paddock for a well-earned break before targeting a spring campaign as a three-year-old.

“She’s done her job today and showed us plenty,” said Blake Shinn. “She handled everything so professionally, and once she got control of the race, I always felt she was going to be very hard to beat.”

A huge thank you to Peter Moody, Katherine Coleman and the whole team for their incredible work, to Blake Shinn for a brilliant ride, and to all the wonderful owners for racing this exciting filly with us! 🌟

We can’t wait to see what’s to come for Vivid Sun!
