Two bouts of knee surgery might have delayed her debut, yet Charm Me didn’t disappoint her loyal and patient team of owners with a first up win at Yarra Valley.

The $80,000 Spirit of Boom filly, purchased by her now trainer Peter Moody alongside Wylie Dalziel at the Magic Millions sales, was the toast of Victoria’s premier wine region, for her connections at least, controlling her maiden from the gates and never looking likely of being beaten.

Whilst her injury issues might ultimately mean the best of Charm Me is never seen, the clearly talented filly returned at the very least a win, prize money and a photo for the wall.

The three-year-old set the tempo on the speed and by the home turn had broken the hearts of all bar one of her rivals; by the 100m she was done with it too.

Moody will continue to keep Charm Me at the beach allowing for better recovery given her knee issues and, hopefully, the debut victory won’t be the last.
