Talented mare Dance to Dubai added another string to her bow on Saturday with a stunning return to form down the Flemington straight.
It was the five-year-old first victory at ‘headquarters’ proving she’s not just a Moonee Valley specialist.
“I said to the team, ‘if we were six furlongs (1200m) around The Valley, you’d sell the farm and bet’ but down the straight, you’re still a maiden until today,” trainer Peter Moody said post-race.
“She gets great confidence from a rail, so we were prepared that, unless the rail was really off, we were prepared to roll back down there because this mare takes so much confidence from having the fence upside her.”
Leading apprentice Carleen Hefel produced a brilliant front running ride as Dance to Dubai broke the hearts of her opponents to claim victory in gutsy fashion at double figure odds.
A $110,000 Magic Million purchase, Dance to Dubai has proved a great investment for her owners who have not only had the pleasure of watching her seven wins but have seen her now accumulate more than $450,000 in prizemoney.
