Dalziel Racing enjoyed an incredibly Good Friday finishing first and third in the $500,000 Country Discovery at Yarra Valley, the days feature race.
Savannah Cloud settled well. Thomas Stockdale took him to the middle of the track in the straight as he went on to beat General Beau by a short half head with our very own Pounding another short half head away in third.
For Savannah Cloud, the six-year-old gelding sired by Savabeel, this win was more than just another feather in his cap; his total prize money is approaching the $1,000,000. Savannah Cloud was purchased by Wylie and Peter Moody from the New Zealand bloodstock Karaka sales which has proven to be a happy hunting ground for the pair. Savannah Cloud is a real favourite for trainer Phillip Stokes, he has been in the Stokes stable since he set up his training base at Pakenham.
Pounding trained by Peter Moody ran a fast finishing third coming from a long way back, beaten by the narrowest of margins. He is raced in partnership with Rosemont Stud who bred him and races in the combined colours made famous by dual group one winner Mr Quickie , another Rosemont stud bred yearling also raced by Wylie and partners . Pounding looks set for another great preparation and has won close to 1.1 million for his happy connections .
